These include key milestones like Feature Freeze on August 15th, User Interface Freeze on September 5th, Kernel Freeze on September 26th, and Final Freeze on October 3rd. Beta release of the 'Oracular Oriole' is set for September 19th and a release candidate build will be ready by October 3rd to help identify any remaining issues.

What to Expect from Ubuntu 24.10

Daily builds of Ubuntu 24.10 will be made available for testing soon. Expected features include Linux kernel 6.11 (or newer), the GNOME 47 desktop, and likely further improvements to the Flutter-based desktop installer. There's also a possibility of the Desktop Security Center making a return. The release might also see the resolution of various kinks which caused the postponement of an all-snap immutable Ubuntu Core Desktop alongside Ubuntu 24.04, leading to its first official appearance.
